2017.08.14 NAD is Well Aware of Ken "Whit" Whitman's Self-Imposed August 1st Deadline(s)

2017.08.14 NAD is Well Aware of Ken "Whit" Whitman's Self-Imposed August 1st Deadline(s)
We know that Ken "Whit" Whitman's re-scheduled (a couple of times now) release date for his varied Kickstarter projects  was August 1st, and we've let that date come and go without commentary.

Since we really didn't expect anything from our  raison d'etre by the 31st, much less the 1st, we thought it best to just wait it out until September 1st.

We haven't decided to let up on ol' Kenny......just didn't see a lot of value in posting the obvious on the 1st of August.

We would like to remind folks that while we don't mind commentary regarding Ken "Whit" Whitman's "illustrious" dealings, would would prefer to not receive comments that consist of calling ol' Kenny names. At this point they really don't serve any real use.

By all means, if Ken "Whit" Whitman has done you wrong, whether through Kickstarter or what we'd consider a shady, if not illicit/immoral/illegal business dealing, you have a right to be upset......but instead of venting here, do something productive, like filing a complaint with the appropriate Attorney General's office.

2017.07.15 Some "#ConManKen Posts Over at Tenkar's Tavern

2017.07.15 Some "#ConManKen Posts Over at Tenkar's Tavern
This last week we've had some news that Ken "Whit" Whitman was working as a game store manager and that the owner of said game store is shuttering the business at the end of this month.

Since July 2017 is the last month before Ken "Whit" Whitman's latest promise of Kickstarter fulfillments, it's probably a double-edged sword for him.

There has been some speculation as to the reasons why this particular game store is closing, but at this time we'd rather not partake in speculation. Until there is more pertinent info, we'd rather just provide documentation in the form of a link to recent Tenkar's Tavern post: #ConManKen - Mad Ox Games & Comics is Closing Its Doors July 30th - Time for Another Gig for Ken

Nothing terribly exciting there, but if you look at a slightly older posts we get another fine example of Ken "Whit" Whitman's wonderful sense of writing style and maturity: #ConManKen - Complete With 2nd Grade Putdowns - The Return of Poo Poo Head

2017.06.16 Some 1st Hand Accounting (Pun Intended) Over on Facebook

2017.06.16 Some 1st Hand Accounting (Pun Intended) Over on Facebook
With all of the dumb drama on Facebook and over at Tenkar's Tavern, it is real easy to miss some good 1st hand accounting of some of the history of Ken "Whit" Whitman's slippery slope of multiple-Kickstarter scams.

Of course "scams" is our stated opinion, but we think by now the majority of folks reading this would tend to agree.

It is important to note that some of this information from Jolly Blackburn is opinion, but some is also just a recollection of what he experienced as a victim member of Kenzer & Company.

"Well the back story is Ken came to me personally about a Knights of the Dinner Table license. He'd been working with Larry Elmore on a few kickstarters and seemed to have turned a corner. Ken explained he had been ADD which had been undiagnosed and that he was on meds and for the first time in his life was connected with his emotions. There were tears, apologies. A story about how he wanted to rebuild his reputation. He invited my wife and I down to Kentucky to stay in his family Inn. They were doing Brothers Barbarian Season and we played cameos roles in it. I have to say I was impressed. There were probably 50 people running around and things were getting done on set. They'd already put one season in the can and it actually wasn't that bad. What can I say? After several months of observing, I felt maybe Ken had finally found his callng. More importantly he was finishing things. Everyone he worked with seemed happy.

So I supported him when he made the pitch to KenzerCo for obtaining the license for his kickstarter. I believe in second chances and I thought Ken was going to do a great job.

Everything was fine until 24 hours after the funding hit his bank account. It was very clear something was amiss. And those working closely with him in Kentucky were sending emails saying so.

So yeah. I bought into his line of crap.

My wife probably said it all best in her blog a few years ago.

"My theory is Ken had major debt going into the project and he used the money to pay that debt. Then he was broke, so he had to launch another kickstarter (Traveler) to find money for Knights of the Dinner Table. Then another KS to backfil and film Traveler, then another...

Just a theory but he's on record saying he used the Pencil Dice funding to finish filming Knights of the Dinner Table.

Don't worry about the criticisms (I don't recall it btw). It's deserved; I allowed him to use my name to lend faith to his project. I know I love of Knights of the Dinner Table fans backed the project because they trusted my judgement. One of the reasons I've felt so betrayed by Ken. He really did a number on our community and has the gall to act like the victim."

"Clearly. You know when it all started Ken presented a partner who was to be the 'money man'. The guy who would have to co-sign every check. It was like Ken knew he couldn't trust himself and this guy would keep things straight. Sadly THAT guy quit the project 24 hours after fundng after Ken refused to transfer the money from his personal account. Talk about a grenade. I knew we were in trouble at that point."

2017.06.16 Ken "Whit" Whitman Sinks to Grade-School Name Calling on Facebook

2017.06.16 Ken "Whit" Whitman Sinks to Grade-School Name Calling on Facebook
This last week there has been a LOT of interesting back-and-forth from our hero, Ken "Whit" Whitman and Erik Tenkar (of Tenkar's Tavern). Now for the most part you should really head over there and check out the action/drama, but since part of our mission is a one-stop shop of info regarding Ken "Whit" Whitman, we have to record a few details here....

.....and while we are at it point out some great information to be found in a few spots and some more "stuff" that might not be apparent at first glance.

First off, some highlights: "Erik is a stupid poo-poo butt face. And he's ugly.

Ken "Whit" Whitman Facebook PostIf 13 more people LIKE this quote, then that will be 1 more than Erik's blog gets read. Please LIKE this to show Eric that my friends are cooler and more awesome than his. ALSO, If I get more than 50 LIKES, Erik said he would slap his mom for birthing him. :-)"

Wow.....just wow.

Now we already know that Ken "Whit" Whitman can go a bit..off with social media, but of course he had to weigh in on the Tenkar's Tavern post. "When you only see the world Black and White, I can see how you belive the bullshit you feed other people.

You sir, do know the the options I had to choose from in the last two years, so pleae, keep judge me on your limited knowlege and make random assumptions and made up stories.

Interestingly, when I do get kickstarters done, you will still be a stupid poo-poo face."

Ken "Whit" Whitman Over at Tenkar's Tavern

I don't realistically expect anyone reading this blog to think that Ken "Whit" Whitman will get any of his Kickstarters done, much less done by August 1st. The 11th of Never is much more likely....remember we've already seen Ken "Whit" Whitman lay the foundation for kicking the Kickstarter can down the road.

If you read that post, you'll see where Ken "Whit" Whitman claimed "I am going in on May 31 to find out if I have CTE.   I may be in stage 2, I am starting to forget things."

Now for us, this is where things get interesting. Erik Tenkar posted some links on his post on Wednesday, June 14th (2017). His link to Alzheimer's Association and Boston University both state that CTE is, and we are paraphrasing here, a condition that has no test and is only identifiable by an autopsy.

In other words Kenny, your statement about "going in" for a test that doesn't exist is straight-up bullshit. Erik's commentary is to let us come to our own conclusions, but we decided to spell it out a bit more directly.

2017.05.20 Additional Details Regarding KoDT:LAS

2017.05.20 Additional Details Regarding KoDT:LAS
Yesterday's little "announcement" from Ken "Whit" Whitman went over about as well as you would expect. Fortunately we weren't the only ones to cry foul and suspect that this is all just a ploy.

Ken "Whit' Whitman Discussion on FacebookIn Erik Tenkar's Facebook post on the subject (which links to his blog post) there are some interesting things being posted. Some of the normal back-and-forth to be expected on the internet. Some folks claiming similar conditions and noting they manage to meet deadlines, some arm-chair quarterbacking like we did yesterday, and some good nuggets of information as well.

One poster claims a friend had a long talk with Ken "Whit'
Whitman on the subject, but that is straight-up hearsay, so we can't use it....but there is some what-we-would-expect-to-be-reliable hearsay coming from Jolly Blackburn:
if only Ben had the footage that was promised to him over a year ago..."

"Ken has talked off an on with Ben for over 18 months with Ken failing to follow through on his promise to provide the raw footage. Ben is not a miracle worker. He wants to see Knights of the Dinner Table fans and the actors see some fruits for their money/efforts and has always been willing to lend a hand doing some editing. (ZOE did after all step in and provide te after party for KODTLAS at GenCon that Ken bailed on).

But he can't edit what he doesn't have. So it's been an endless cycle of ken promising to get Ben the footage and then.... nothing. So more or less what we've come to expect from Ken. Nothing."

"That would of course depend on Ken sending Ben the footage. Just pointing out he promised to do that 18 months ago and then nothing. If I were a betting man I'd my money on more of the same. Nothing."

"amazing thing is not one second of new edited material (not even blooper material that was promised) has seen the light of day since GenCon 2015."

One of our writers was at the KoDT:LAS "after-party" put on very last-minute by Ben Dobyns and was able to give us the scoop, witnessed first-hand on the epic failure that was Ken "Whit" Whitman's failure to put on an after-party as promised to those purchasing entry to the event, either through purchased tickets or high-enough backer levels on th KoDT:LAS Kickstarter. Our contributor knew about the Ben Dobyns offer to take a whack at editing the KoDT:LAS footage most likely before Ken "Whit" Whitman did (some proof that this offer goes back at least to September 2015). After all, our guy was there at GenCon the day that Ken "Whit" Whitman skipped town, not showing the footage or attending his scheduled meeting with KenzerCo, claiming there was a threat on his life (here is a guest post over at Tenkar's Tavern detailing the drama...and it is a 1st person account).

We were most surprised by the last little bit, and evidently we weren't alone. The same guy who did the Tenkar's Tavern guest post chimed in on the Facebook post and asked the question we were thinking......wasn't Ken "Whit" Whitman's last KoDT:LAS update back in August 2016 a blooper reel? We referenced that just yesterday...

"[poster's name] he did - but that footage was actually from MY ipad taken on set. I uploaded it and he later utilized it for his update. So..."

So this means that the project that is "90% done" that had the deadline pushed back a couple of times to August 2017. The project we ascertain is going to be pushed back again due to Ken "Whit' Whitman's "medical condition", hasn't been passed off for final editing to a fricken volunteer, despite a couple years (or so) of offering to get the lion's share of the last 10% done?!

By our calculations this means the last "new" material worked on by Ken "Whit" Whitman for KoDT:LAS may have been in October 2015?

How does anybody expect that the KoDT:LAS footage still exists and that Ken "Whit" Whitman is working on it, according to his own words:  "Im not holding the (KoDT:LAS) footage hostage. I don't need money to release them. They will be shipping out with Traveller by Aug 1st, 2017 or sooner. Sure extra money could speed up the process, but I am working my way out of this the old fashion way. BUT working and spending my own money. Its it talking a long time... yep! But there ya go!" (from Jolly Blackburn's Facebook page and recorded in our Ken Sez page...but the content isn't available any longer)
